			<title>Cititravel and Quintessential Productions</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=152</link>
<description>In an effort to better serve the growing number of international corporate clients that require the highest level of technical and event production expertise in Spain and Portugal, Cititravel DMC has reached an agreement with creative event producer Scott Ashton, founder of Quintessential Productions, to deliver his company's services locally by setting up a new Spanish-based company.

Quintessential Productions ES will operate independently from Cititravel but will service clients via the DMC's multiple offices in Spain and Portugal. When a client requires the services of both Cititravel and Q Productions ES, the companies will collaborate to deliver a comprehensive and high quality solution designed to fulfill and exceed expectations. Ashton brings nearly 25 years of international production and event experience to Cititravel. He founded Q Productions in 2000 while working with some of the world's leading and most demanding brands in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. His expansion into Spain and Portugal, with the support of Cititravel DMC, will permit clients to source all production equipment, supplies and services directly.

"I am delighted that we have managed to pull together what I am sure is going to be a very successful partnership between Quintessential Productions and Cititravel DMC. Quintessential UK has a track record of producing world class events for leading agencies and corporate clients including Grass Roots, Toyota, SONY, Yahoo!, etc. Cititravel has been delivering logistical, venue and accommodation solutions throughout Spain and Portugal to the highest standard for over quarter of a century" stated Ashton. "Quintessential Productions ES with the support and backing of Cititravel DMC offers an unbeatable solution to delivering our clients even higher levels of service."

Ashton is known for his work on large-scale theme-intensive productions, including world concert tours, corporate conferences and product launches where he has travelled the world producing events throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, Middle East and elsewhere. Now based in Spain he is ideally placed to use this background to establish the new Spanish company in the quickest time possible.

Cititravel Managing Director Carlos Charters said: "We are delighted to be able to add another product to our range of services. We have recognized over the years that many of our agency and corporate clients prefer to source production requirements in their home country and bring material to Spain. By working with Scott we hope to be able to offer the highest level of expertise and equipment via a Spanish company thus offering a genuinely comparable product along with the cost savings that keenly negotiated local sourcing can achieve"

			<title>Zebra Invasion of Madrid</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=148</link>
<description>It may sound like an April Fools' Day joke but we have documentary evidence that the centre of Madrid was actually invaded by zebras on April 1st this year! Not only that, in London and Zurich they experienced the same moment of "animal magic" at exactly the same time!

Everything was related to a huge publicity initiative put together by the company Swatch for which Cititravel was able to offer assistance in Madrid.

The event was a huge success and, as you can imagine, the impact was unforgettable for the multitude of bemused onlookers in Madrid's city centre.

			<title>Barcelona – A new concept of restaurant</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=130</link>
<description>What about the idea of having dinner in a Souvenir shop or a Dry Cleaners?

No, we are not joking! An enterprising company has made these concept restaurants a reality.
From outside there is absolutely no clue that the "front" conceals two of Barcelona's trendiest restaurants but those in the know can tell the shopkeeper the secret code to be allowed to pass through the concealed entrance into a world of designer décor and exquisite cuisine. With capacities of between 60 and 80 people respectively both restaurants can be taken on an exclusive basis to give your group an unforgettable experience.

Publicity about these restaurants isn't that easy to come by but for more information just contact our Barcelona team who have all of the clandestine contacts you will need!

			<title>EIBTM 2010 – Thanks to our clients!</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=121</link>
<description>As you might be aware Cititravel organized a special competition for clients to be able to guess the location of our new office. The winner was announced during the EIBTM trade show in Barcelona with a generous Christmas hamper awarded as the prize.

We can now share with you that the lucky winner of the prize was Marek Neubauer from Analyst Centre based in Prague. Congratulations to him!

We also wanted to take opportunity to offer a big thank you to all of the clients who participated in our pre-EIBTM Fam Trips organised in Seville, Madrid and the Costa del Sol. We are grateful to all of the participants for taking the time to discover different areas within Spain and also to all of the clients who called by our stand to visit us at the show itself.

We especially wish to recognise the patience and fortitude of our friends from South Africa whose visit was plagued by unfortunate trials and tribulations all of which were highly abnormal! Firstly the weather in Seville was really terrible something that is so rare it only happens only once or twice a year. Next, after the show, many had to endure a real odyssey to get back home when flights were cancelled firstly due to bad weather conditions across Europe and then through the unprecedented industrial action from air traffic controllers. Well done to all of you for keeping cool and maintaining your sense of humour in trying circumstances!

We hope to see you all again soon in less stressful circumstances and hopefully with a group!

The bicycle proved to be the perfect way to metaphorically travel back in time on order to discover the influence of the many different cultures which have contributed to the atmosphere of this historical architectural jewel.

<title>A new museum in the city of Malaga</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=116</link>
<description>The fascinating Automobile Museum opened in September and is located in the heart of the city within a beautifully refurbished building which used to be a tobacco factory!

The building itself is Modernist in style and the museum features an extraordinary collection, displayed in themed areas which trace the change in styles which characterize the artistic evolution of the 20th century. All of the great makes of car are represented including Hispano-Suiza, Bugatti, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Delage, Packard, Jaguar, Mercedes and Ferrari.

Some of these hand-made models feature exotic upholstery in bison hide, ostrich or crocodile, others have delicate Mother of Pearl dashboards, ivory and silver handles, panels crafted in precious wood, Swarkovsky crystal lights, mascot figurines designed by Lalique and a host of further exotic details.

The car displays are supplemented by a glamorous collection of "vintage" hats and accessories with exhibits from the beginning of the 20th century until the 1960''s. High fashion brands are featured including Balenciaga, Dior, Chanel, Schiaparelli and Balmain to name but a few.

Not only car enthusiasts but artists, stylists, journalists, photographers and creative minds in general will take something from this journey tracing the impact on society and fashion of one of history''s most significant inventions. This is an innovative museum ahead of its time in terms of traditional concepts of what a museum should be and is surely destined to become one of the best known in Europe boosting Malaga''s standing as an important destination for cultural tourism.

This is the perfect place to organise cocktail party surrounded by the cars or to have a gala dinner in the impressive patio.

			<title>Cititravel’s Quality Certificates ratified</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=114</link>
<description>After nearly two years of hard work, we are proud to announce that we are now accredited with the following ISO certification: ISO 9001:2008, ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 14001:2004.

• The ISO9001:2008 quality certification is focussed on client satisfaction and supports our continuous pursuit of excellence in providing DMC services.

• The ISO 27001:2005 certification deals with the security of all data in terms of handling and storing the information held within the company. It therefore offers added protection against any external threats.

• The ISO 14001:2004 certification obliges the company to demonstrate its concern for the environment through concrete measures and policies. These are aimed at promoting "green" activity programmes to our clients as well as the introduction of recycling and energy saving processes in our offices.

This is great news for the company, as we believe that we are currently the only DMC in Spain holding all three of these accreditations.

			<title>Seville inaugurates its new-look Plaza de España</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=117</link>
<description>After 9 years of careful restoration, the Plaza de España, the most emblematic monument of Seville, has recovered all of its original charm and romanticism.

Since its construction in 1928 for the Latin American Exhibition of 1929, the Plaza de España has become one of the most recognisable and best known monuments of Sevilleit was used as a location for shooting scenes in films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones). It is a striking example of the Moorish Revival style in Spanish architecture. Located in the middle of the quiet and romantic Maria Luisa Park, the Plaza de España is a huge semi-circular building featuring carved wooden ceilings, and elegantly constructed brick walls, some of which are covered with decorative ceramic tiles produced in Triana area of the city historically Seville's ceramic centre. At each end of the building are two striking towers. Access is via one of several beautiful bridges decorated with hand-painted ceramic tiles which span a stretch of water plied by small boats. At the centre of the square facing the monument is a large fountain and inset into the walls of the Plaza are tiled alcoves, each representing a different province of Spain.

Relaxing horse and carriage tours are available to discover the beauties of the park with its luxurious plants, flowers and the numerous pavilions which remain as a legacy of the 1929 Exhibition. Each pavilion represents the architectural characteristics of a Latin American country. The trip finishes at Plaza de España to give time to take some pictures, and explore the monument maybe Venice-style by taking advantage of a boat trip on the waterway which runs beneath the bridges. Altogether one of the "greenest" ways in which to enjoy one of Seville's most famous landmarks.

			<title>Cititravel celebrates its 25th anniversary</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=101</link>
<description>Cititravel, Spain's leading privately owned Destination Management Company, is shortly to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its founding in Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol.

In those far-off days it was so complicated to secure a business line in Spain that contact with the outside world was maintained via the telephone of the bar next door to the office! A quarter of a century later and Cititravel's team of over 40 multi-lingual professionals now operates from fully owned offices in Malaga, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Tenerife whilst partners Viajes Kontiki provide support in the Balearic Islands.

The steady growth and expansion of the company has been matched with a very prudent fiscal policy which has meant that profits have been kept within the company to build up solid reserves. The wisdom of this policy has been vindicated in the light of the current economic crisis and has helped Cititravel come through a challenging 2009 to bounce back in what is proving to be a very encouraging performance in 2010.

Never inclined to rest on its laurels, Cititravel has new initiatives under way to respond to the concerns and trends within the modern market place. In addition to an internal quality management system and the offer of a bond to secure clients' deposit payments the company will be shortly accredited with ISO certification in the fields of the Quality, Environment and in Data Protection. In addition to this, priority is being given to develop "green" activities and to respond to the requirements of ever more strict regulations on health and safety.

Twenty-five years of experience provides a very solid base from which to build on but Cititravel always remains forward looking with the aim of staying at the cutting edge of their industry field for many decades to come.

			<title>MICHELLE OBAMA´S FIRST VISIT IN SOUTHERN SPAIN</title>
			<link>http://www.cititravel.es/noticia.asp?id=99</link>
			<description>
U.S. first
lady Michelle Obama and her 9-year-old daughter Sasha toured a historic
cathedral in the southern city of Granada on Thursday on the first full day of
their vacation in Spain.
Before
entering the cavernous church, they tried to beat the blazing heat of the
Andalusia region by stopping at a well-known ice cream parlor across the
street.
A crowd of
several hundred people shouted "Obama!" and "guapa!", or
beautiful, as the Obama’s entered the cathedral with a large security detail in
tow.
The Obama
plans also include taking in a flamenco performance in the old Sacromonte
quarter, a hillside district known for caves that serve as dwelling places or
taverns for nightlife fun, and a nighttime visit to the Alhambra, the
exquisite, reddish citadel that was the seat of Moorish rule in Spain.

<description>The Gran Via, the main street of our Capital Madrid, is 100 years old!

The Gran Via project was first mooted during the mid 19th century. However, works only started in 1910 and lasted nearly 10 years.

The Gran Via is considered an exceptional showcase of early 20th century architecture, with styles ranging from Vienna Secession Style, Plateresque, Neo-Mudéjar and Art Deco amongst others.

The Gran Via is one of Madrid´s most famous landmarks. Not only is it one of the city's most lively areas, it is also one of the most important shopping and leisure areas. Additionally, it's home to numerous cinemas and theatres and is often referred to "the Spanish Broadway".</description>

<description>In the sombre, mysterious light of the Atlantic, at the western end of Europe, there lies a green country facing the ocean.
Located to the south of the Celtic Sea, in the north of the Mediterranean area, Galicia has forged a culture in the crossroads of these two worlds.
To the north of Portugal, in the north-west of Spain, there is a small country barely three hours by car from north to south brimming with contrasts and surprises at every turn in the road; we Galicians like to say that every house is a world, that every stone has a history and that in every plant there is a natural space. Here we have a country with an endless stock of experiences.
